An expression index only helps when the query uses the same expression

If an index is on md5(guid), Postgres only uses it when the query compares that exact expression. A plain where('guid', ...) ignores the index.

// Can use an index on (source_id, md5(guid))
Post::query()
    ->where('source_id', $sourceId)
    ->whereIn(DB::raw('md5(guid)'), array_map(fn (string $guid): string => md5($guid), $guids))
    ->pluck('guid');

// Cannot use that index
Post::query()
    ->where('source_id', $sourceId)
    ->whereIn('guid', $guids)
    ->pluck('guid');

Check the real query with EXPLAIN, not a hand-written copy. Laravel's toSql() output works for that.
